The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will play a crucial role in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with safety regulations and fostering a culture of safety across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and uphold comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Lead the EHS team, offering mentorship and support to drive performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct thorough inspections and audits of the facility to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and enforce appropriate control measures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, developing root cause analyses and corrective action plans to mitigate future risks.
- Facilitate training sessions for employees on safety protocols, hazard recognition, emergency response, and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, training activities, incident reports, and regulatory permits.
- Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and industry trends, ensuring timely updates to policies and practices.
- Collaborate with various teams to incorporate EHS considerations into the planning and execution of new processes and equipment.
- Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, managing inspections and ensuring compliance with all permits and requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Oversee waste management, recycling initiatives, and pollution prevention efforts.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities and liaise with external agencies as needed.
- Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance, metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is advantageous.
