Position Overview

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will play a crucial role in a thriving manufacturing organization. This position is essential for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and fostering a culture of safety within the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and uphold comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead the EHS team, offering guidance and support to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits of the manufacturing facility to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and enforce necessary controls and corrective measures.
  • Oversee investigations of workplace incidents and near-misses, developing effective root cause analyses and corrective action plans to mitigate future occurrences.
  • Facilitate employee training sessions on safety protocols, hazard identification, emergency response, and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain precise records and documentation regarding safety inspections, training activities, incident reports, and regulatory permits.
  • Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and industry trends, ensuring timely updates and implementations of necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with various teams to integrate EHS considerations into the planning and execution of new processes, equipment, and facilities.
  • Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, managing inspections and ensuring compliance with permits and regulations.
  • Develop strategies to cultivate a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
  • Oversee waste management, recycling initiatives, pollution prevention efforts, and other sustainability programs.
  • Lead emergency preparedness initiatives and coordinate with external agencies as needed.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance, key metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is advantageous.
