We are seeking a qualified Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer with a background in the manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience and hold a degree in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Company Profile
This opportunity is with a prominent and expanding company in the automotive manufacturing industry. The EHS Engineer will report directly to the EHS Manager and play a crucial role in overseeing a facility with over 500 employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and uphold comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures that align with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Lead the EHS team, offering guidance and support to foster high performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of the manufacturing site to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and enforce appropriate control measures.
- Oversee investigations of accidents and incidents, formulating effective root cause analyses and corrective action plans to mitigate future occurrences.
- Facilitate employee training on safety protocols, hazard recognition, emergency response, and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain precise records related to safety inspections, training activities, incident reports, and regulatory permits.
- Stay informed on evolving EHS regulations, standards, and industry trends, ensuring timely updates and implementations.
- Collaborate with various teams to incorporate EHS considerations into the planning and execution of new processes and equipment.
- Act as the primary liaison for regulatory agencies, managing inspections and ensuring compliance with permits and regulations.
- Develop strategies to cultivate a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Oversee waste management, recycling initiatives, pollution prevention efforts, and other sustainability programs.
- Lead emergency preparedness initiatives and coordinate with external agencies as needed.
- Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance, key metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is advantageous.
