Position Overview

The role of the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer within the automotive manufacturing sector is pivotal in ensuring a safe and compliant workplace. This position is integral to the operational success of a dynamic manufacturing organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and uphold extensive EHS programs, policies, and protocols that align with industry standards and regulatory mandates.
  • Lead the EHS team, offering mentorship and support to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and audits of the facility to pinpoint potential risks, evaluate hazards, and implement necessary corrective measures.
  • Oversee investigations of workplace incidents, ensuring comprehensive root cause analyses and the development of effective preventive strategies.
  • Facilitate training sessions for employees on safety practices, hazard identification, emergency response, and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain meticulous records related to safety inspections, training activities, incident documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay informed on evolving EHS regulations and industry trends, ensuring timely updates to policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with various departments to incorporate EHS considerations into the planning and execution of new projects and processes.
  • Act as the primary liaison for regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with all necessary permits and reporting requirements.
  • Promote a culture of environmental responsibility and safety across the organization.
  • Manage waste management initiatives, recycling programs, and pollution prevention strategies.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness efforts and collaborate with external agencies as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver regular updates on EHS performance metrics and improvement initiatives to senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in EHS within a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Certification in safety (e.g., OSHA) is advantageous.
