Position Overview:

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is seeking an Educational Program Coordinator to oversee, train, and manage volunteer activities for various educational initiatives.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in business administration, management, journalism, education, or a related discipline, along with two years of relevant experience in education, volunteer management, or communications.


Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with a bachelor's degree in natural science, communications, education, or a similar field, coupled with two years of experience in education, volunteer management, or outdoor skills instruction, will be highly regarded.


Key Skills and Knowledge:
  • Expertise in developing training courses, conducting needs assessments, and planning educational programs.
  • Familiarity with instructional methodologies and educational principles.
  • Ability to create and deliver engaging training sessions and write informative articles for publication.
  • Proficient in compiling data and generating comprehensive reports.
  • General knowledge of environmental education concepts and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and coordination skills.
  • Experience in supervising and motivating volunteers.
  • Public speaking proficiency and basic outdoor skills.
  • Competence in native plant landscaping and trail maintenance.
  • Experience in social media engagement.

Job Responsibilities:

The Educational Program Coordinator will:

  • Design and implement educational and training programs aimed at preparing volunteers for various initiatives.
  • Communicate essential information to the public through various channels regarding educational programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support in creating educational materials and training aids.
  • Develop and maintain exhibits and information booths at community events.
  • Conduct research projects and offer technical assistance to educational institutions and the public.
  • Engage with community leaders and school officials to assess program effectiveness.
  • Manage and oversee program budgets within the designated region.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Specific Duties:
  • Assist with programming at nature centers, including trail maintenance and native landscaping.
  • Create and deliver classes and activities related to environmental education and outdoor skills.
  • Supervise volunteers and develop training programs tailored for educational initiatives.
  • Foster community partnerships and target underserved populations.
  • Promote AGFC and nature center programs to enhance community awareness and participation.
  • Travel frequently within the designated region and occasionally statewide.

Requirements:

Must possess a valid driver's license. Frequent travel within the state is a requirement of this position.
