Key Responsibilities
Accountable for tactical, strategic, and administrative assistance across various program domains including training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedural frameworks, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, and safety management systems.
The role necessitates a thorough understanding of the ATC sector and familiarity with the numerous essential elements of the industry that constitute the National Airspace System. Specialists must possess the capability to leverage this expertise for the analysis, assessment, and formulation of innovative methodologies, studies, strategies, and protocols. The Staff Support Coordinator should be well-versed in agency-wide initiatives, facility objectives, and goals. Effective communication tailored to the intended audience is essential. While not mandatory, experience with hardware/software is advantageous. Occasional travel may be required.
For the designated Facility/Duty Location:
1. Executes daily tasks aimed at maintaining and enhancing operational materials and resources within the assigned specialty areas.
2. Facilitates communication within and between facilities, as well as across various business lines and sectors.
3. Proposes new projects/studies, considering available resources and the achievement of facility objectives.
4. Applies expertise to complete projects/studies and generate facility reports.
5. Evaluates and analyzes the efficiency of equipment, facilities, and procedures.
6. Conducts investigations, evaluations, and briefings for facility personnel.
7. Develops strategies to enhance customer service and the quality of support provided.
8. Collaborates openly among facilities, providing insights and consulting with other Staff Support Coordinators regardless of duty location.
9. May undertake responsibilities outside of the facility in accordance with grade and experience.
Depending on facility structure, reports to an assigned MSS-2, 3, or 4, who provides administrative guidance for facility assignments, in terms of broadly defined missions or functions within areas of expertise. The incumbent is accountable for planning, designing, and executing work assignments independently. The outcomes of the work are technically authoritative and are generally accepted without modification. Performance is assessed based on results achieved and effectiveness in designated program areas.
Employment Conditions
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
- Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
Candidates must demonstrate specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Must have held a FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters positions for at least 1 year (52 weeks); or 2) Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATS facility; (Note: an employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility that is upgraded is considered to meet the qualification requirements of the upgraded position, since he or she has been performing the higher-graded work); or 3) Must have held a MSS position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATS facility.

Rating and Evaluation Factors: In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, candidates will be rated in accordance with the instructions on FAA Form, Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Movement.
