About The Role

The Senior Scientist, ADME/PK will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of the Analytical Sciences division, supporting Valo's internal small molecule drug discovery initiatives, particularly in cardiovascular research. This role involves providing expert guidance to multidisciplinary project teams and interpreting ADME/PK data to recommend subsequent experimental actions. The position necessitates mentoring junior scientists and actively managing assay schedules to deliver critical ADME insights in a timely manner, facilitating rapid evaluations of chemistry structure-activity relationships (SAR). Additionally, you will spearhead new technological advancements and ADMET capabilities to meet the demands of our expanding portfolio while ensuring the highest standards of data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with a team of seasoned drug developers to design innovative, distinct drug candidates by offering strategic direction and executing in vitro and in vivo profiling.
  • Oversee Valo's internal high-throughput and definitive ADME assay platform to support the small molecule preclinical pipeline, including metabolic stability, drug permeability, drug-drug interactions, protein binding, and solubility studies.
  • Identify, evaluate, engage, and manage external providers for in vitro ADME and in vivo PK services; analyze and interpret the resulting data.
  • Supervise and provide mentorship to junior members of the Analytical Sciences team.
  • Manage the daily operations and upkeep of analytical technologies, including tandem mass spectrometry and liquid handling automation.
  • Lead the establishment of optimal experimental ADME workflow practices to ensure high levels of data integrity and traceability.
  • Implement emerging technologies and innovative assays to enhance discovery capabilities and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate closely with AI/ML and data scientists to develop and execute a comprehensive platform for in silico predictions of complex ADME/PK properties.
  • Recruit and train a versatile team to address the needs of our growing portfolio.
Qualifications
  • Extensive ADME expertise covering target assessment through to late-stage drug development, with an understanding of regulatory guidelines and industry trends.
  • Proficient in the contemporary application of ADME assay automation, comprehensive workflow integration, and data management practices using LIMS/ELN software platforms.
  • Significant hands-on experience in designing, qualifying, and implementing novel ADMET and physicochemical assays.
  • Innovative mindset regarding current experimental and computational ADME/PK methodologies and techniques; modeling and simulation expertise (PBPK and QSP) is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
  • Team-oriented mentality, capable of leading, following, and contributing based on team needs and situational demands.
  • Proven success in building and managing ADME-related specialties, with a focus on continuous improvement; prior experience in establishing and managing an ADME lab team is a plus.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline with 8+ years of drug discovery experience, or a BS/MS with 15+ years of relevant experience.
Compensation
  • Base Salary: $142,278 to $188,680
This range reflects the anticipated annual base salary for this position. Actual compensation will be determined based on various factors including experience, knowledge, and skills.
