Job Overview

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Principal Associate Research Scientist. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about interdisciplinary transportation research and engaging with a diverse array of subjects. The Center conducts extensive research for various transportation agencies at local, state, and federal levels. Key research areas include:

  • Highway design
  • Project management
  • Pavement design and maintenance
  • Infrastructure assessment and forensic analysis
  • Construction management
  • Safety in highways and infrastructure
  • Structural engineering and preservation
  • Intelligent transportation systems
  • Economic, financial, and policy aspects of transportation
  • Traffic operations
  • Environmental analysis

Applicants should possess a minimum of three (3) years of research experience in one or more of the aforementioned areas. The Principal Associate Research Scientist may oversee other research scientists or technicians and must demonstrate proficiency in planning, scoping, and managing intricate research projects. This role also involves collaborating with program managers and KTC leadership to foster enduring partnerships with clients and transportation organizations.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record in preparing research reports, grant proposals, and materials that facilitate technology transfer. While candidates with less experience may be considered based on their qualifications, preference will be given to those with substantial research backgrounds.

Preferred Education/Experience
