Job Summary

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) is looking for candidates for the position of Research Scientist Associate. Ideal candidates should have a keen interest in multidisciplinary transportation research and a willingness to engage in a wide array of topics. The Center conducts research across various domains for local, state, and federal transportation entities. Key research areas include:

  • Highway design
  • Project management
  • Pavement design and maintenance
  • Infrastructure assessment and roadway forensic analysis
  • Construction management
  • Highway and infrastructure safety
  • Structural engineering and preservation
  • Intelligent transportation systems
  • Economic, financial, and policy dimensions of transportation
  • Traffic operations
  • Environmental analysis

The Research Scientist Associate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting literature reviews and summarizing findings
  • Leading data collection and analysis efforts
  • Assisting senior research personnel in developing innovative solutions and technologies to advance KTC's mission
  • Preparing technical reports and grant proposals
  • Presenting research outcomes to government agencies, industry partners, and at professional conferences

This position will also involve maintaining and overseeing project-related data. Engagement in professional development activities, such as attending relevant meetings or conferences, is expected. The Research Scientist Associate will play a vital role in fostering enduring partnerships with clients, transportation organizations, and agencies. Recent graduates are encouraged to consider this opportunity.
