ABOUT THE POSITION:


The Software Release Specialist is tasked with facilitating the design, development, and upkeep of automated workflows aimed at establishing Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for software product releases. This role plays a critical part in implementing and maintaining the essential platforms that underpin these automated processes. The incumbent will contribute to the architecture and execution of deployment pipelines while also documenting deployment scripts and programs necessary for product installation. This includes building infrastructure from code, compiling software into deployable artifacts, and managing the deployment of these artifacts across various software environments.


Additionally, the role involves overseeing the execution of the DevOps toolchain, which encompasses configuration management, release, and deployment, ensuring alignment with established release management policies and standards. Collaboration with project teams is essential to determine an effective build schedule, which the incumbent will initiate and manage. This position also requires working closely with team members to implement process enhancements and provide support to developers regarding software package registry and delivery, ultimately fostering a seamless experience for end-users across IT functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Develop and sustain automated workflows and pipelines for the deployment of software packages, artifacts, and configurations across diverse environments.


• Assist in the implementation of foundational platforms and gain insights into their utilization for automated deployment workflows.


• Create scripts and programs to automate and optimize the deployment process for infrastructure, code, configurations, and artifacts related to software products and the DevOps toolchain.


• Evaluate the reliability and scalability of automated pipelines, identifying potential enhancements to meet organizational demands.


• Engage in discussions with project teams to establish a suitable build and packaging schedule, contributing to its development.


• Provide senior team members with comprehensive reports on software changes and their downstream impacts on the Configuration/Release engineering process.


• Explore alternative tools and processes to enhance efficiency and minimize errors across the development platform.


• Collaborate with the development team to investigate build errors and support the implementation of corrective measures.


• Effectively manage version control of tools and scripts, ensuring proper updates and archiving.


• Support developers to ensure smooth coordination and successful delivery of registered packages.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Education:

o Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent experience of at least 3 years in software development or software release engineering.

o Preferred: Certification in Middleware.


• Knowledge & Experience:

• 2-4 years of experience in Configuration/Release or Platform Engineering.

• Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools.

• Experience in maintaining tools and platforms for source control, artifact management, and deployment pipelines.

• Moderate understanding of software build and release management processes.

• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, SDLC, and DevOps practices.

• Familiarity with container technologies and scripting languages.


• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Cloud Technologies & Platforms.

• Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Methodology.

• Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.

• Familiarity with Web Services & APIs.

• Experience with Source Control Systems.

• Knowledge of Software Packaging and Deployment Procedures.

• Familiarity with Build Tools and Compilers.

• Understanding of Security Automation.

• Knowledge of Software Testing & Quality Assurance Methodologies & Tools.

• Proficiency in Version Control Tools.

• Familiarity with Containerization and Monitoring & Logging practices.
