POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Florida Gators Athletic Association is seeking dedicated Academic Support Monitors to assist the Hawkins Center team and student-athletes by upholding regulations and creating a secure and focused atmosphere that promotes studying and tutoring. This position will remain open until suitable candidates are identified.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Familiarity with the UF Campus
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultures or backgrounds
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure the security, safety, and cleanliness of Academic Center facilities
  • Assist academic support personnel with necessary documentation
  • Maintain effective communication with the Monitor Supervisor and Hawkins Center staff
  • Exhibit professionalism at all times and serve as a positive role model
  • Demonstrate assertiveness in fulfilling duties and punctuality
  • Adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Monitor Handbook
  • Develop an understanding of what constitutes a violation of the rules
HOURS OF COMMITMENT:

The Academic Center operates with the following hours:

Fall and Spring: Monday - Thursday 8am – 11pm, Friday 8am – 5pm, and Sunday 4-10pm.
Summer A: Monday - Thursday 8:00am – 9pm and Friday 8:00am – 3pm.
Summer B: Monday - Thursday 8:00am – 10pm, Friday 8:00am – 3pm, Sunday 6-9pm.

Monitors will be scheduled based on student traffic patterns in the Academic Center. During operational hours, two monitors will be assigned to the Academic Center desk to assist student-athletes with study hall check-in and support tutors and mentors as needed. Additional monitors will be scheduled for evening shifts when the highest number of students utilize the facility. Monitors are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours (or two shifts) per week, with a maximum of 25 hours per week.

WHEN TO APPLY:

All positions are ideally filled and the schedule established prior to the start of each semester. To be considered for employment, applicants should submit their materials online in advance of the term they wish to begin working. BENEFITS:

This is a part-time role with no associated benefits.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Interviews may occur before the closing date, but no employment offers will be made until after the position closes. Once an official offer is extended and accepted, the candidate will be required to complete the federal Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9 and may be contingent on satisfactory background screening results. The candidate must also present acceptable and original documents to verify identity and authorization to work in the United States. Authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship is required. The Florida Gators Athletic Association is an at-will employer and is separate from the University of Florida.
