Key Responsibilities

As a Recreation Revenue Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to fee collection technologies and equipment, including hardware, software, and various devices.
  • Safely transporting collected recreation fees and donations from designated collection points.
  • Maintaining security and accountability of funds during transportation.
  • Supporting the training and mentoring of new staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Providing accurate information to visitors regarding the National Park Service and local attractions.
  • Collecting fees at park entrances, campgrounds, and donation points.
  • Preparing shift reports to confirm collected funds and transactions.
  • Managing inventory and restocking supplies for the fee program.
  • Documenting all fee collection transactions accurately.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is contingent upon a background investigation.
  • Compliance with Selective Service Registration Act is mandatory for males.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is required.
  • Submission to a drug test and achieving a negative result is necessary prior to appointment.
  • A valid driver's license is required for operating a government vehicle.
  • Uniform compliance with National Park Service standards is expected.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime may be necessary.
  • Completion of a one-year probationary period may be required for new employees.
  • Overnight travel may be necessary on occasion.
  • Certification in Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED is required within six months of employment.
  • Assistance during emergency operations may be required.

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Experience: One year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-04 level, including responsibilities such as handling funds, maintaining financial records, and ensuring accountability.
  • Education: Completion of at least four years of education beyond high school in an accredited institution.
  • Combination: A combination of experience and education as described above.

Additional Information

This role may involve physical demands such as standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights. The working environment may include exposure to various weather conditions and high visitation periods.
