Description

The Parking Facility Operations Coordinator plays a crucial role in supporting the Parking Garage Supervisor by organizing staffing schedules and overseeing daily operations at the parking facility. This position encompasses the responsibilities of Parking Leads while also managing basic maintenance tasks performed by vendors. The Coordinator aids in the management of Parking Leads, Assistant Parking Leads, Maintenance Technicians, and Parking Attendants.

In the absence of the Supervisor, the Coordinator may take charge of the parking facility; inputs data into the system and generates reports; prepares analyses on parking garage utilization; and collaborates with the Supervisor to enhance garage management practices, boost parking revenue, and minimize related costs.

The role is performed under the general oversight of the Parking Garage Supervisor. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Key Responsibilities

The Parking Facility Operations Coordinator is ultimately accountable for the cash management within the facility. Ensures the security of sensitive areas such as the office, safe room, supply room, and mechanical rooms by monitoring the activities of Parking Leads.


Oversees all parking equipment, including fee computers, gates, credit card terminals, and printers, ensuring they are operational.

Responsible for maintaining the proximity card system, which involves updating spreadsheets, managing customer contracts, and organizing the customer information database.

Responds to equipment alarms and malfunctions, troubleshooting as necessary.

Notifies the appropriate personnel of equipment failures or malfunctions related to the facility's infrastructure and seeks assistance from Software and Equipment Vendors when needed.


Ensures parking garage security, visitor safety, and the upkeep of facilities and equipment, providing guidance to Custodians and Maintenance Technicians to maintain a clean and safe environment for the public.

Supplies Custodians and Maintenance Technicians with a daily list of tasks.

Verifies that staffing levels are suitable for expected activity.

Ensures adequate inventory of essential supplies is maintained and that all Parking Attendants have the necessary materials in their booths, such as stock tickets, register tape, and general office supplies.

Ensures compliance with dress and appearance standards among Parking Attendants. Ensures that all signage and supplies are ready for special events.


Advises and assists Parking Leads in preparing change fund bags for the next shift, completing shift reports, and balancing daily cash reconciliations.


Accurately documents all unusual occurrences and situations requiring follow-up in the incident logbook; notifies the Supervisor of any issues or areas of concern.

Oversees and supports Parking Attendants and Parking Leads, ensuring that both new and existing employees receive proper training in policies, procedures, and new systems. Assists in training Parking Leads on equipment maintenance.


Responsible for ensuring that Parking Garage staff uphold high standards of visitor and customer service, while adhering to the policies and procedures of the Division and the City.

Maintains a positive attitude while assisting visitors, management, and fellow employees.

Assists the Parking Garage Supervisor in preparing and monitoring the annual budget for the division and supports bi-weekly payroll processes.


In the absence of the Parking Garage Supervisor, collaborates with staff to ensure routine supervisory and operational duties are fulfilled.

Keeps the Supervisor informed of any problems or concerns and handles personnel matters with discretion and confidentiality.

Performs related duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

A high school diploma is required, with additional college-level education preferred.

Experience in customer service, cash handling, and managing large groups under high-pressure situations is essential, along with the ability to work in varying weather conditions and maintain legible handwriting.

Basic computer skills are required, with intermediate skills preferred. Experience in high-traffic environments is advantageous. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing conditions and follow both written and verbal instructions is necessary. Must demonstrate sound judgment in stressful situations and be able to remain in a parking booth for extended periods.

Driver's License Requirement:
Valid Florida Driver's License Class E.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information courteously, effectively, and promptly with the public and City staff.

This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the day, along with frequent use of hands to operate a computer, including keyboard and mouse.

The employee must routinely lift or move items up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


We offer a comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, including paid healthcare, dental, vision, retirement plans, life insurance, long-term disability, and up to 13 paid holidays.

The City provides 2 weeks of vacation and 2 weeks of sick leave, accruing bi-weekly from the first day of employment.

Additionally, the City offers 24 hours of time off for wellness and family, plus $300 per quarter in wellness or childcare reimbursements for non-probationary, full-time employees.


Furthermore, the City pays out accrued leave at 100% for non-probationary employees who leave in good standing and provide a minimum of 2 weeks' notice.

While there are limits on vacation leave paid, it is at a minimum of 480 hours, and there is no limit on sick leave paid out.

The City also offers an option for employees to cash out up to 2 weeks of sick leave, twice per year (per policy).
