Key Responsibilities

As a Recreation Revenue Technician, your role will encompass the following:

  • Diagnosing and resolving issues related to fee program technologies and equipment, including hardware, software, and various devices.
  • Safely transporting revenue and donations collected from multiple fee collection sites.
  • Maintaining security and accountability of funds during transport.
  • Assisting in the training and orientation of new staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Providing information to visitors regarding the National Park Service and nearby attractions.
  • Collecting park fees at various entry points, campgrounds, and donation receptacles.
  • Completing shift reports to verify collected funds and transactions.
  • Managing inventory and restocking necessary supplies for the fee program.
  • Maintaining accurate records for all fee collection activities.

Employment Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Appointment is subject to a background investigation.
  • Compliance with the Selective Service Registration Act is necessary for male applicants.
  • Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is mandatory.
  • A drug test is required prior to appointment, with ongoing random testing for illegal substances.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary for operating a government vehicle.
  • Uniform compliance with National Park Service standards is required, with an allowance provided.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime may be necessary.
  • New employees may be subject to a probationary period.
  • Overnight travel may be required occasionally.
  • Training for obtaining and maintaining First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications is required within six months of employment.
  • Assistance during emergency operations may be necessary.

Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Credit will be given for all relevant experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, candidates must possess one of the following:

  • Experience: At least one year of specialized experience comparable to the GS-04 level, including financial handling, software use for financial data, or fee collection duties.
  • Education: Successful completion of at least four years above high school from an accredited institution.
  • Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of qualifying experience and education as described above.

Additional Information

This position requires physical stamina for standing, walking, and lifting. Working conditions may involve exposure to various weather elements and high visitor traffic. Duties may be performed in isolated locations.
