Position Overview:
The University of Miami is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Access Coordinator to join our Patient Access department. This full-time role is essential in ensuring a seamless experience for our patients at the UHealth campus.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate various complex tasks that support the revenue cycle and clinic operations, enhancing the overall patient experience.
- Act as a subject matter expert for team members, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Collect, verify, and input essential demographic, financial, and clinical data for patient accounts.
- Engage with patients' families and healthcare providers to gather necessary insurance details.
- Confirm insurance eligibility and inform patients and referring physicians of any discrepancies.
- Collaborate with scheduling teams to manage patient appointments effectively.
- Secure required authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
- Inform patients of their financial responsibilities prior to services rendered and collect payments as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in the designated systems.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for junior Patient Services staff.
- Propose innovative strategies to enhance departmental performance and efficiency.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to address a variety of inquiries from patients, physicians, and staff through multiple communication channels.
- Work autonomously while managing stress effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Foster a culture of compassion and collaboration among staff, patients, and families, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.

- Proficient in data entry with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to service excellence.
- Capable of managing multiple software systems and tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles is advantageous.
