Position Overview

Kaiser Permanente is dedicated to providing exceptional nursing care, placing patients and their families at the forefront of our services. The Licensed Practical Nurse I (LPN I) is responsible for delivering nursing care as outlined by the Georgia Board of Nursing standards and organizational policies. Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Physician, the LPN I offers both direct and indirect care to patients and families, aiming to enhance health outcomes and prevent illness. This role involves educating patients and families while coordinating care effectively. Collaboration with the Health Care Team (HCT) and leadership is essential to ensure high-quality care that aligns with established health and wellness standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for consultations by reviewing medical history, gathering pertinent clinical data (such as height, weight, vision, or hearing assessments), taking vital signs, and documenting findings in the medical record.
  • Address care gaps during patient encounters and complete necessary documentation.
  • Set up examination rooms and equipment for procedures, assisting practitioners as required.
  • Initiate care interventions and document patient responses according to established protocols.
  • Participate in emergency care as directed by the supervising practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Provide patient education and distribute preparation materials for diagnostic procedures as per guidelines.
  • Schedule patient appointments for laboratory tests, radiology, or specialty consultations as ordered.
  • Monitor and manage electronic communications related to patient or provider inquiries within the scope of practice.
  • Engage in departmental or regional quality improvement initiatives.
  • Involve patients, families, and caregivers in care coordination.
  • Address and resolve patient concerns in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate departmental orientation and training for new team members on standard procedures and policies.
  • Supervise unlicensed personnel in the provision of patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • N/A

Education
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program (LPN/LVN).

License, Certification, Registration
  • Georgia Practical Nurse License required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of a Customer Service Assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills through Customer Service Assessment.

Notes

  • Cross-training in 1-2 additional departments may be required.
