Overview of the Role:

The Mechanical Repair Specialist is responsible for installing, replacing, and modifying machine components and reassembling equipment following maintenance or repair tasks. This role excludes those whose primary responsibilities involve machine setup or adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

§ Conduct repairs on machinery or mechanical systems.

§ Inspect machines and mechanical systems to identify issues.

§ Disassemble or partially disassemble machinery and execute repairs primarily using hand tools for scraping and fitting components.

§ Replace damaged or faulty parts with items sourced from inventory or commercial suppliers.

§ Arrange for the fabrication of replacement components by a machine shop or send parts to a machine shop for extensive repairs.

§ Draft specifications for significant repairs or for the production of parts.

§ Reassemble machinery, ensuring all necessary adjustments for optimal operation.

§ May troubleshoot or repair minor electrical connections.

§ Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

May engage in work across other classifications when incidental tasks are necessary for the completion of the assignment. Significant work in another classification may be required if accompanied by applicable wage adjustments.

• Proper utilization of tools and equipment commonly employed in the mechanical field.


• Fulfillment of all mandated training requirements as per governmental and management directives.


• Timely and cost-efficient execution of responsibilities.


• Prompt completion and accuracy of all departmental tasks.


• Interaction with a diverse range of individuals in a professional and courteous manner across various situations.


• Adherence to established safety protocols and sound industrial and office safety practices.


• Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies.


• Capability to perform well under pressure.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations): Required


• Minimum of four years of experience in mechanical and equipment repair.


• Proficiency in using specialized tools necessary for repair functions.


• Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment issues.


• Must possess and maintain hand tools essential for the role.


• Required to obtain and sustain necessary explosives certifications when involved in ordnance operations.


• Valid State-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory.


• Must meet and uphold company physical and security standards, including respirator qualifications and clearance eligibility when necessary.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Effective communication skills suitable for a service team environment.


• May need to obtain and maintain asbestos certification for maintenance and repair of asbestos-containing items.


• Ability to successfully pass any required background checks and/or drug screenings.


• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation - $40.05/hr (Union position)
