Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician for Mechanical Systems is responsible for conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services. This role includes coordinating and maintaining the preventive and corrective maintenance planning and documentation system for the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forecast, schedule, and execute maintenance tasks while documenting and auditing records related to preventive and corrective maintenance on marine mechanical equipment and systems, including HVAC, electrical generators, and marine diesel engines.
  • Operate and maintain electric bridge cranes and hydraulic pedestal cranes, ensuring proper use of rigging equipment for complex lifts. Maintain crane equipment history and perform duties as a crane operator and rigger.
  • Work effectively in various weather conditions, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Lift and carry loads exceeding 50 pounds and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Perform custodial duties to uphold shop and facility cleanliness.
  • Complete and maintain a DOT medical/physical exam as necessary for operating forklifts and cranes.
  • Work comfortably in marine environments, including on boats and piers, while handling mooring lines and shore power connections.
  • Maintain and repair M241 barge mechanical systems, including generators, cranes, winches, and HVAC systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of commercial experience or 8 years of military experience with relevant training.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience under NAVFAC P-307.
  • 2+ years of experience with packing or production machines.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA Certification(s).

Additional Requirements:

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Active Top-Secret Clearance required.

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts. The work environment can be loud, particularly at construction sites.

Physical Demands:

This role is physically demanding, requiring regular communication, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Position Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with potential overtime.

Travel Requirements: Primarily local travel during business hours, with occasional overnight travel.
