Overview of the Role:

The Mechanical Repair Specialist is responsible for the installation, replacement, and modification of machine components, as well as reassembling machinery post-repair or maintenance tasks. This role excludes those whose primary responsibilities involve machine setup or adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

§ Conduct repairs on machinery and mechanical systems.

§ Inspect machines and mechanical systems to identify issues.

§ Disassemble or partially disassemble machinery to perform repairs, primarily utilizing hand tools for fitting and scraping parts.

§ Replace damaged or faulty components with items sourced from inventory or commercial suppliers.

§ Initiate the production of replacement parts through a machine shop or send components for significant repairs.

§ Draft specifications for major repairs or the production of parts.

§ Reassemble machinery, ensuring all necessary operational adjustments are made.

§ May troubleshoot or repair minor electrical connections.

§ Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

May engage in work across other classifications when incidental tasks are necessary for the completion of assignments. Significant work in another classification may be required if accompanied by applicable wage adjustments.

Qualifications:

Essential Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):


• Minimum of four years' experience in mechanical and machinery repair.


• Proficient in the use of specialized tools necessary for repair tasks.


• Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment issues.


• Must possess and maintain hand tools required for the role.


• Required to obtain and maintain explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.


• Valid State-issued driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.


• Must meet and uphold company physical and security standards, including respirator qualifications and clearance eligibility when necessary.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Strong communication skills suitable for a service-oriented team environment.


• May need to obtain and maintain asbestos certification for maintenance and repair tasks involving asbestos-containing materials.


• Ability to successfully pass any required background checks and/or drug testing.


• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation - $40.05/hr (Union position)
