Job Overview: This position plays a pivotal role in executing the comprehensive labor strategy of the organization, collaborating closely with the Labor Relations Manager to address and resolve various labor and employee relations issues. The role involves the implementation and assessment of the organization's initiatives related to employee and labor relations, ensuring adherence to workplace agreements, regulations, and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough investigations and resolve a diverse range of employee and labor-related issues, including providing education, coaching, and guidance to both employees and management regarding collective bargaining agreements.
  • Identify and customize best practices to ensure the effective execution of agreed strategies while managing and resolving implementation challenges.
  • Assist in formulating collective bargaining strategies and support the negotiation of agreements in partnership with Employee and Labor Relations, Human Resources, and Operations management.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with operational and union leadership to effectively address and resolve issues while proactively implementing sound workplace practices.
  • Guide HR Directors and Business Partners on the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Monitor relevant legislation, arbitration outcomes, and collective bargaining contracts to evaluate industry trends.
  • Maintain comprehensive records and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of analytical reports utilizing records of actions taken concerning grievances, disciplinary actions, arbitration, and related labor relations activities to identify and address potential problem areas.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Substitutions: 6 years of relevant experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum: 7 years of experience in Labor/Employee relations, practicing labor law, or managing labor relations in a large, complex, multi-site environment.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws, regulations, case law, and their practical application.
  • Preferred: Experience in a healthcare setting with specialized expertise in handling grievances, negotiations, employee relations, and employment law.

Skills:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation abilities.
  • Capable of influencing outcomes with professionalism, patience, and confidentiality.
  • Adept at facilitating diverse groups and leading collaborative efforts.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a partnership environment with labor organizations.
  • Experience in drafting and formulating contractual language.

Travel Requirement: 0% - 25%

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Office-based position with occasional travel between various work sites.
  • Physical work site required with lifting up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
