Job Overview

Position Summary

The primary objective of this role is to deliver extensive engineering design development and assistance for CROM Corp.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Duties:

a. Organize, plan, and oversee the creation of design drawings in collaboration with Project Management, Estimating, and Drafting teams to generate finalized construction plans.

b. Conduct research and gather information for design evaluation and drawing generation.

c. Evaluate structures utilizing both finite element analysis and traditional methods, taking into account all relevant load conditions and regulatory requirements.

d. Create, execute, and finalize designs and drawings for various elements using materials such as concrete, carbon fiber, steel, fiberglass, and timber.

i. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional frameworks.

ii. One-way and two-way slabs.

iii. Plate and shell constructions.

iv. Scaffold and shoring formwork; and

v. Prestressed components utilizing single-wire and strand.

e. Generate and assess various drawings and visual aids.

f. Review and verify the work of other design personnel.

g. Address general inquiries.

2. Standards Development:

a. Establish and maintain standard design sheets and details for the company.

b. Create programming for prestressed concrete tanks, formwork, and related structural applications.

c. Revise and update specifications to ensure compliance and quality assurance.

3. Leadership Duties:

a. Engage actively in departmental meetings and fulfill assigned responsibilities.

b. Prepare and/or evaluate scope, budget, and assignments for engineering designs.

c. Lead inter-company design presentations.

4. Professional Development:

a. Enhance professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education, including reviewing industry publications, building personal networks, and participating in professional organizations and educational workshops as directed by the department manager.

b. Engage in relevant code and standard organizations as directed by the department manager.

c. Uphold and promote the company's image through professional conduct and business practices.

5. Additional responsibilities as assigned and seasonal projects as required.

Essential Qualifications:


• High level of motivation and meticulous attention to detail.


• Strong oral and written communication skills.


• Effective problem-solving abilities and robust mathematical skills.


• Capability to collaborate within a team environment.

Minimum Requirements:


• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related ABET/EAC accredited program.


• Licensed Professional Engineer with over 4 years of experience in signing and sealing projects.


• 5 to 9 years of experience in structural engineering design with comprehensive knowledge of structural design standards and codes.


• Proficient in MS Office suite.


• Expertise in Mathcad, AutoCAD, and design software such as Staad Pro, NX Nastran, or other finite element analysis tools.


• Experience with Finite Element Analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Proficiency in NX Nastran.


• Programming skills in Visual Studio.


• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a similar ABET/EAC accredited program.

Work Environment:


• Primarily office-based.


• Occasional travel may be necessary.


• Extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Compensation Range: $104,000-$130,000/year based on experience.

Hourly Rate: $50 - $62.50 / hr
