Position Summary:

InsideHigherEd is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to leverage their technical acumen in dynamic, customer-oriented production support and development settings. This role is part of the Infrastructure & Communication Technology team, which operates within a state-of-the-art data center equipped with numerous servers and extensive storage capabilities.

As a key member of the Infrastructure & Communications Technology unit, you will oversee medium to large-scale projects and guide teams responsible for the maintenance, installation, configuration, and deployment of sophisticated hardware and software systems. Your contributions will include managing data centers and delivering hosted server, storage, virtualization, database, and email systems. These systems facilitate connectivity for educational institutions across the globe through high-speed data, video, telecommunications, and VoIP services.

This position allows you to assist in designing and architecting advanced system solutions, defining enterprise standards, recommending innovative initiatives, and aligning with industry trends. You will work closely with managers and technical peers while also mentoring junior staff members.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at a competitive rate and are eligible for paid holidays throughout the year. In addition, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package that supports work-life balance and professional development.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $95,000; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four years of pertinent experience; or a high school diploma (or equivalent) and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in:
  • Managing enterprise implementations of VMware systems, including vSphere and vRealize Automation
  • Installing and troubleshooting ESXi hypervisor
  • Integrating various vendor storage platforms within VMware
  • Conducting performance analysis for ESXi hosts and guests

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient in project management and risk management methodologies
  • Knowledge of ITIL and IT Service Management principles
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with configuration management and orchestration tools
  • Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python and PowerShell
