Position Overview:

The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure & Environment is seeking applications for a full-time, tenured/tenure track faculty role at the rank of Senior Faculty in Coastal Engineering.

This position is part of a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing our interdisciplinary research efforts and launching a new undergraduate program in Coastal Engineering.

We are looking for a visionary candidate eager to propel advancements in science and technology within this rapidly evolving field, while also contributing to curriculum development, workforce training, and mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students.


Field Context:

Coastal Engineering is a dynamic and expanding discipline, with increasing demand for specialized training. Recent increases in grant funding have facilitated significant advancements in both fundamental and applied research.

The adoption of innovative concepts, such as the integration of natural processes in engineering practices, has led to substantial investments in coastal restoration and infrastructure resilience.

Collaboration among researchers, governmental bodies, and academic institutions is essential for fostering progress in Coastal Engineering.


Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Coastal Engineering or a closely related discipline and demonstrate experience in leading large-scale field studies with diverse teams.

A key responsibility of this position includes fostering collaborative coastal research efforts involving a wide range of faculty and students.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of securing external research funding and will be expected to build partnerships with industry to test and prototype innovative technologies.

The Engineering School is dedicated to providing high-quality educational programs, including undergraduate degrees in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, as well as advanced degrees in related fields.
