Join us in shaping the future of aerospace and STEM education

As the Program Coordinator for the American Rocketry Challenge, you will be instrumental in leading the world's largest student rocketry competition, which serves as a cornerstone for STEM engagement in the aerospace and defense sectors. Your efforts will empower thousands of middle and high school students to engage in the design, construction, and launch of model rockets, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience in engineering problem-solving.

In this role, you will report directly to the Vice President of Communications, overseeing team registrations and ensuring active participation. You will also be responsible for developing year-round program content and organizing the National Finals event. Your role will involve managing communications both internally and externally, as well as coordinating with program partners, exhibitors, and vendors.

Additionally, you will support the Aerospace STEM Club initiative, which was launched in collaboration with NASA to engage younger students from historically underrepresented backgrounds in aerospace through clubs and summer camps.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, proactive, and collegial professional with a strong focus on customer service and problem-solving. Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential. You should be adept at managing multiple tasks and balancing immediate and long-term priorities while supporting strategic planning and execution across divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the administration of all aspects of the American Rocketry Challenge.
  • Provide exceptional customer service as the primary contact for students and teams regarding program inquiries.
  • Manage team registrations, grants, and flight data, ensuring accuracy in our online application system.
  • Coordinate logistics for the National Finals and International Rocketry Challenge, including outreach to vendors, exhibitors, and volunteers.
  • Support the development and implementation of outreach initiatives, including communication strategies for teams, recruitment efforts, webinars, and newsletters.
  • Maintain program resources on the website and contribute to the annual Year in Review publication.
  • Conduct program impact analysis and demographic surveys.
  • Assist in onboarding, training, and supervising interns.
  • Provide administrative support, including scheduling, meeting coordination, expense reporting, and travel arrangements.
  • Ensure timely processing and verification of program invoices using organizational financial systems.

STEM Programs and Outreach (15%):

  • Encourage the growth of Aerospace STEM Clubs.
  • Collaborate with staff and external partners to deliver in-person programs and activities.
  • Conduct research and analysis on current and future projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Work with internal teams to enhance awareness of workforce efforts and promote aerospace careers among students.

Enterprise-wide Collaboration (5%):

  • Support organization-wide flagship events, including meetings and industry interactions.
  • Collaborate with other coordinators on cross-division needs and event planning.
  • Participate in special projects and focus groups as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience in STEM outreach, program management, or operations.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including customer service and communication.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Passion for STEM education and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
  • Able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in content creation, with basic graphic design skills preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management software is a plus.
  • Experience with application management systems is advantageous.

Education:

  • An associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
