We are seeking a highly skilled professional who exemplifies strong leadership qualities, excels in building collaborative partnerships, and thrives in a culture of continuous improvement. This position will leverage these competencies to enhance SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) within our investment casting facility, collaborating closely with the operations leader and various support teams. The casting engineer will operate with a degree of autonomy, holding technical accountability for all equiax casting methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and oversee production methodologies, including tooling and equipment. Validate design criteria and ensure effective application of new products, tools, or machinery on the shop floor.
  • Employ extensive knowledge of casting techniques, analytical reasoning, and technical expertise to implement policies and strategies.
  • Possess awareness of industry best practices and understand how one's area of expertise integrates with other functions; maintain awareness of competitors and the unique factors that set them apart in the marketplace.
  • Utilize sound judgment to propose and implement alternative solutions beyond established parameters to tackle complex manufacturing challenges involving technical diversity and interdependent production cycles. Draw upon technical experience and analytical skills, using various internal and external resources to inform decisions.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for less experienced colleagues.
  • Identify and manage capital investments.
  • Lead projects with moderate risk and resource implications. Communicate information effectively; develop skills to guide team members toward consensus on relevant topics. Set performance expectations and address sensitive matters as needed.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to enhance the manufacturability of castings for both existing products and new product introductions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of relevant casting process experience (preferably in equiax castings) plus at least 3 years of casting-related process experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in casting processes (preferably equiax castings).
  • Familiarity with wax, soluble, and ceramic core die design sufficient to communicate requirements to tooling design teams.
  • Experience with RP pattern applications in a New Product Introduction (NPI) context (SLA, printed wax, etc.).
  • Comprehensive understanding of equiax casting processes (wax injection, shell slurry formulation, mold wrapping, pre-heat/pour temperatures, post-casting processes, heat treatment, NDTs such as FPI/X-ray).
  • General knowledge of the operational capabilities of an equiax casting facility to guide design engineering during NPI projects.
  • Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with high-temperature alloys (e.g., INCO 625, INCO 718, Rene 41).
  • Capability to analyze available data to pinpoint project focus areas for improving product yield, lead times, and costs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
