About the Role

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a highly skilled Social Media Marketing Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our marketing and communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing social media strategies to promote the University's mission, programs, and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Curate Engaging Content: Create and schedule content for the University's social media platforms to increase organic reach and engagement.
  • Manage Social Media Presence: Uphold and increase awareness of the University's reputation as a top institution among students, faculty, alumni, peer institutions, recruiters, and the general public.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work with the Director of Marketing to support agency-led paid social media campaigns for recruitment and brand strategy, and lead a team of student social media interns in planning, developing, and scheduling regular social media posts.
  • Monitor and Analyze Performance: Analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and content, and provide reports and recommendations to the marketing team.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Emerging Trends: Stay updated on emerging social media trends, tools, and best practices to keep the University's social media presence current and competitive.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience in Social Media: One year of experience managing social media accounts for an organization or business.
  • Proficiency in Social Media Platforms: Proficiency with social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
  • Experience with Social Media Management Tools: Experience with social media management tools, such as Loomly, Sprout, Hootsuite, Buffer, or a comparable technology.
  • Strong Writing and Communication Skills: Excellent writing ability and strong understanding of the best ways to reach diverse audiences via digital content and communications.
