Job Overview

Mirion Technologies, Inc. is establishing a cutting-edge Engineering division aimed at enhancing our manufacturing capabilities and modernizing assembly techniques to optimize operational costs. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer position is designed for proactive professionals who can utilize a diverse set of technical expertise in electronic and electro-mechanical engineering. This role involves collaboration with external suppliers, internal sourcing teams, quality assurance, and research and development engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building effective relationships with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure the smooth integration of manufacturing processes from design through production, fostering partnerships that promote continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support the requirements for products, processes, and production of externally sourced components, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify and implement operational enhancements related to manufacturing workflows, production tools, and process documentation.
  • Assist in the identification, establishment, and development of new suppliers.
  • Work with engineering, procurement, and suppliers to resolve discrepancies in product specifications and support cost reduction and quality enhancement evaluations.
  • Formulate and execute initiatives aimed at reducing material costs while enhancing overall cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze manufacturing expenses, pinpoint cost drivers, and develop strategies to improve cost efficiency.
  • Engage in cross-functional workshops focused on Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) for generating cost-saving ideas.
  • Conduct product Should Cost analysis and Bill of Materials (BOM) analysis to uncover cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate and support initiatives aimed at material savings related to supplier price reduction projects.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to provide manufacturing insights throughout the product development lifecycle, emphasizing design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.
  • Lead and manage the transfer of manufacturing processes in alignment with product development projects.
Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or production environments.
  • Experience in Value Engineering and leading VAVE workshops for cost-saving ideation.
  • Familiarity with Should Cost Modeling tools and BOM analysis.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Suite - Inventor.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes including electronics assembly, testing, mechanical assembly, injection molding, and metal fabrication.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into actionable plans for cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Lean Techniques and Operational Excellence tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage data for problem-solving and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to conduct complex analyses and synthesize insights into practical initiatives.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to coach and facilitate team efforts.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP.
  • Solid financial acumen and statistical knowledge preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multilingual abilities are advantageous; proficiency in English and either Spanish or French is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus.
  • Certifications in Lean and/or Six Sigma Green-Black Belt preferred.
