Job Overview

Mirion Technologies, Inc. is establishing a cutting-edge Engineering division aimed at enhancing our manufacturing capabilities and modernizing assembly operations to optimize direct operating costs. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer position is designed for proactive professionals who can utilize a diverse range of technical expertise in electronic and electro-mechanical engineering. This role involves collaboration with external suppliers, internal sourcing teams, quality assurance, and research & development engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills to engage with senior management, maintain a strategic outlook, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and build robust relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with external suppliers to ensure the smooth integration of manufacturing processes from design to production, fostering partnerships that promote continuous improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Support the product, process, and production needs of externally sourced components, tools, and equipment.
  • Identify and implement operational enhancements related to manufacturing workflows, production tools, and process documentation.
  • Assist in the identification, establishment, and development of new suppliers.
  • Work alongside engineering, procurement, and suppliers to resolve discrepancies in product specifications and support cost reduction and quality enhancement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies for material cost reduction and enhance overall cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze manufacturing expenses, pinpoint cost drivers, and execute strategies to improve cost efficiency.
  • Engage in cross-functional Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) workshops to generate cost-saving ideas.
  • Lead product Should Cost analysis and Bill of Materials (BOM) assessments to uncover cost reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate material savings initiatives related to supplier price reduction projects.
  • Work closely with engineering and operations teams to provide manufacturing insights throughout the product development lifecycle, focusing on design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.
  • Oversee and manage the transfer of manufacturing processes in support of product development initiatives.


Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in design engineering, manufacturing engineering, or production environments.
  • Experience in Value Engineering and leading VAVE workshops for cost-saving ideation.
  • Familiarity with Should Cost Modeling tools and BOM analysis.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Suite - Inventor.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes, including electronics assembly, testing, mechanical assembly, injection molding, extrusion, metal fabrication, and surface finishing.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and translate it into actionable plans for cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and rapidly changing priorities effectively.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Techniques and Operational Excellence tools, including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Problem Solving, Strategy Deployment, 5S, and Six Sigma.
  • Proven track record of leveraging data to address challenges, with strong critical thinking abilities.
  • Capable of conducting complex analyses and synthesizing insights into actionable initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience in coaching and facilitating teams.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems.
  • Solid financial and statistical acumen is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multilingual capabilities are preferred; proficiency in English and either Spanish or French is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel as required.


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA is a plus.
  • Certifications in Lean and/or Six Sigma Green or Black Belt are preferred.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, clients, and the public.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and consider various solutions in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
