Role Overview:

The Building Automation Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and overseeing multiple projects, serving as a subject matter expert in commissioning and consulting for control system installations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Oversee the implementation of complex building automation systems, focusing on large networks and third-party integrations.
  • Act as a technical authority for troubleshooting and system definition, both remotely and on-site.
  • Provide comprehensive design and operational insights to the field installation team.
  • Evaluate submitted materials, including DDC modules and control devices, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Develop software and graphical solutions tailored to project requirements.
  • Offer technical support and troubleshooting assistance to the installation team.
  • Execute commissioning tasks within established budgets.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members on documentation practices and HVAC automation.
  • Facilitate communication between the field installation team and engineering teams regarding third-party integrations.
  • Resolve communication and control issues to ensure seamless customer network functionality upon project completion.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of systems software for logic testing and modifications.
  • Ability to create and troubleshoot HVAC system logic using relevant software.
  • Excellent communication skills for timely issue reporting to project management.
  • Proficient in all software functions and utilities.
  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks and wireless technology.
  • Well-organized with effective time management skills.
  • Able to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with reading architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Automated Logic hardware and software.
  • Understanding of mechanical equipment operation and control sequences.
  • Computer and networking skills for maintaining equipment and commissioning communications.
  • Background in mechanical and HVAC system design and operation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of experience in the HVAC controls sector.
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel and participate in on-call schedules.
  • Physical capability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in commissioning and understanding building control systems.
  • Familiarity with major building controls manufacturers and software programming.
  • Ability to manage multiple challenges across various disciplines.
  • A collaborative team player focused on customer satisfaction.
