Job Overview:

The Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) Production Support team is in search of a leader to enhance our expanding public cloud initiatives. Fidelity's Site Reliability Engineers collaborate with our cloud platform teams to ensure dependable operations for Fidelity's mission-critical workloads. This team specializes in comprehensive cloud management capabilities and possesses in-depth knowledge of the current state of Fidelity's cloud platforms.

The Director of Site Reliability Engineering will oversee Engineering and Systems Operational support for Business Unit aligned functions, including Application Support, Cloud Enablement, Helpdesk, Environment Management, Mid-tier & Web Operations, and Platform Engineering. By embodying and promoting Fidelity's agile leadership principles, you will foster and maintain an innovative agile culture.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in automation using various scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting).
  • Experience managing systems through infrastructure as code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform, Chef).
  • Strong grasp of Cloud Computing and DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Practical experience with Cloud services on AWS and Azure.
  • Experience in building resilience through Chaos Engineering methodologies.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
  • Expertise in monitoring, logging, and alerting services for distributed systems at scale.
  • Proven track record in maintaining scalability and resilience in complex environments.
  • Experience implementing advanced observability practices at scale.
  • Ability to utilize modern monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Splunk).
  • Skilled in analyzing large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to learn new software, methods, and practices, and share knowledge with developers.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and groups, both in-person and virtually.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between high-level architectural concepts and practical solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions among component owners to enhance understanding of transaction paths.
  • Provide guidance to architects and developers on common patterns and reusable solutions.
  • Encourage the adoption of stability principles through data-driven presentations.
  • Lead operational readiness discussions and reviews of new solutions and products.
  • Develop frameworks for self-assessment of applications regarding stability and dependability.
  • Embrace a mindset of continuous learning and experimentation, with a focus on improvement.
  • High curiosity quotient, with a desire to understand complex systems.
