This role will report directly to the Vice President of Engineering and is responsible for the design, construction, and testing of prototypes while managing assigned projects focused on new product innovation, design enhancements, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee multiple engineering initiatives including new product innovations, design enhancements, and cost efficiency projects.
- Strategically plan and manage project specifications, technical risks, deliverables, and timelines.
- Design, construct, and evaluate prototypes to ensure performance aligns with requirements.
- Effectively document all work (engineering reports, testing protocols, engineering change notifications).
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10 to 20+ years of proven experience in product development and/or manufacturing settings.
- Advanced skills in 3D design and design translation.
- Extensive expertise in one or more key areas: mechanical design, rapid prototyping, sheet metal, injection molding, weldments, fiberglass, fabrication processes, heaters, motors, pumps, filtration, air handling, etc.
- Demonstrated design capabilities to fulfill requirements for safety, performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Strong project management experience across projects of varying scope.
- Proven organizational and time management abilities; adept at managing multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise in several of the aforementioned core areas.
- Experience and proficiency in collaborating with suppliers and external contractors to achieve project goals.
- Finite element modeling and analysis (mechanical, thermal, flow).
- Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Skills in data analysis, statistics, and six sigma methodologies.
- Structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
