Job Overview:

The Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) Production Support team is in search of a director to enhance our expanding public cloud capabilities. The Site Reliability Engineers at Fidelity collaborate with our cloud platform teams to ensure dependable runtimes for critical business operations. This team specializes in comprehensive cloud management functionalities and maintains expertise on the current state of Fidelity's cloud platforms.

The Director of Site Reliability Engineering will oversee Engineering and Systems Operational support for various Business Unit functions, including Application Support, Cloud Enablement, Helpdesk, Environment Management, Mid-tier & Web Operations, and Platform Engineering. By exemplifying and fostering Fidelity's agile leadership principles, you will help cultivate and sustain an innovative agile culture.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in automation using various scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell scripting).
  • Experience in managing systems with infrastructure as code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform, Chef).
  • Strong grasp of Cloud Computing and DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Practical knowledge of Cloud services on AWS and Azure.
  • Experience in building resilience through Chaos Engineering methodologies.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, Datadog).
  • Expertise in instrumentation for monitoring, logging, and alerting services in distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain scalability and resilience in complex environments.
  • Experience in implementing advanced observability practices at scale.
  • Ability to utilize modern monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, Prometheus, Splunk).
  • Strong analytical skills for managing and interpreting large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to learn new software and practices and share knowledge with developers.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between high-level architectural concepts and practical solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions among component owners to enhance understanding of transaction paths.
  • Provide consulting to architects and developers on common patterns and reusable solutions.
  • Promote the adoption of stability principles through data-driven presentations.
  • Lead operational readiness discussions for new solutions and products.
  • Develop frameworks for self-assessment of applications based on stability and dependability criteria.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, with a focus on identifying problems and proposing solutions.
