Position Overview

The Sales Director is responsible for engaging with mid-sized employers, specifically those with employee counts ranging from 2,000 to 7,000, as well as benefit consulting firms and brokers serving this demographic. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of their healthcare requirements and strategic direction, guiding our procurement initiatives and utilizing the extensive resources of Truven Health Analytics to deliver substantial value to this business segment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities targeting mid-sized employers, benefits consulting firms, and brokers.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Sales in Payer to identify and prioritize key prospects within the designated region.
  • Achieve or surpass annual sales quotas by securing new business within the assigned territory.
  • Oversee the complete customer relationship throughout the sales process.
  • Lead the sales efforts for new business by adhering to a structured capture and proposal response methodology.
  • Build and nurture relationships, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to strategize and engage with potential clients, delivering impactful presentations and proposals that drive revenue growth.
  • Formulate and implement business development strategies in partnership with leadership and consulting teams to meet or exceed established sales goals.
  • Engage in complex negotiations with prospective clients and partners regarding business commitments and proposal specifics.
  • Maintain regular communication with senior decision-makers through both in-person visits and remote interactions.
  • Represent the organization at industry conferences and networking events.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred, alongside five to seven years of successful experience in a healthcare sales role, demonstrating a proven ability to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience selling solutions to employers, benefit consulting firms, and brokers.
  • Proven experience engaging with executive-level decision-makers.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and influence within a complex organizational structure.
  • Excellent business acumen, capable of thriving in a competitive and dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated networking skills within various professional communities, such as employer coalitions.
  • Experience with the employer, benefit consulting, and broker acquisition processes.
  • Familiarity with selling technology solutions, particularly in business intelligence, is advantageous.
