Chief Technology Office Overview

The Chief Technology Office (CTO) plays a pivotal role in providing enterprise infrastructure and technology services that empower Wells Fargo's global clientele. This division is tasked with overseeing comprehensive services across the international landscape, which includes networking, production services, developer experience tools, centralized technology governance, storage solutions, data centers, mainframe systems, midrange systems, cloud computing, distributed systems, and international infrastructure.

CTO is currently undergoing a significant transformation in service delivery, which encompasses the introduction of cloud-based data centers, modern development tools, and the adoption of a product operating model rooted in agile methodologies. This transformation aligns resources with a holistic business management approach, integrating a streamlined, product-oriented restructuring that emphasizes collaboration and automation, thereby providing swift, standardized solutions directly to consumers. This initiative supports Wells Fargo Technology's long-term vision of fully transitioning to cloud operations.

Role Overview

Wells Fargo is in search of a Communications Senior Manager who will be responsible for crafting and implementing strategic communication plans for the Chief Technology Office. This includes managing executive and internal communications that enhance business priorities and uphold the Company's reputation, as well as overseeing the CTO Communications team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of professional communicators dedicated to the Chief Technology Office.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced communicators.
  • Design and execute communication strategies and tactics that align with business objectives.
  • Oversee the narrative of CTO messaging in relation to strategic priorities and key outcomes.
  • Identify storytelling opportunities that highlight significant initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to ensure messaging consistency with strategic goals.
  • Consult with various teams to represent the 'voice of the customer' in deliverable development.
  • Act as a trusted communications leader and strategic advisor to the Communications team and business partners.
  • Work alongside communicators to ensure alignment in communication strategies and messaging.
  • Partner with Technology Communications teams to implement communication strategies and content.
  • Foster a culture of talent development to achieve business objectives.
  • Challenge existing processes that do not align with the Target Operating model and propose efficient solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for branding and communication channel enhancements.
  • Manage communication reviews and approval processes to uphold standards and mitigate risks.
  • Track and analyze results to inform decisions on communication channels and methods.
  • Assist with CTO-wide communications and content as capacity allows.
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in Public Relations, Media Relations, or Corporate Communications, or equivalent experience through work, training, military service, or education.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and executing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • 3+ years of experience in transformation initiatives within large organizations, with a focus on simplifying messaging.
  • 3+ years of experience in translating complex technology topics into accessible narratives.
