Overview

As a Lead Revenue Strategist, you will oversee the revenue and settlement operations for a diverse portfolio in the renewable energy sector. Your role will involve meticulous analysis of data from various sources, interpreting contractual obligations, validating settlement information, and facilitating the monthly financial close process. You will engage with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure seamless communication and reporting. Additional responsibilities include quarterly financial reporting, supporting the annual audit process, performing account reconciliations, and managing cash applications. A strong understanding of revenue accounting standards and practices is essential to uphold revenue recognition controls. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze Power Purchase Agreements to ascertain billing and accounting implications.
  • Cross-reference contract terms with transaction details to identify discrepancies and suggest necessary amendments.
  • Reconcile billing activities with counterparties and regulatory bodies in line with contractual deadlines.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable, unbilled revenue, and collateral accounts.
  • Identify and communicate necessary adjustments to revenue and billing accruals directly to the general ledger.
  • Prepare comprehensive revenue and accounts receivable reports.
  • Investigate and resolve complex billing discrepancies.
  • Engage with counterparties regarding outstanding receivables.
  • Analyze financial data to identify significant variances and trends, summarizing findings for management review.
  • Execute complex queries in energy trading systems to support inquiries from stakeholders.
  • Confirm and settle transactions related to power, emissions, and renewable energy credits with commercial partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and file FERC documentation and quarterly reports.
  • Support site operations, corporate teams, external auditors, and consultants as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-6 years of progressive experience in a relevant domain.
  • Strong grasp of fundamental accounting and finance principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Skilled in using pivot tables and Microsoft Power Query.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with GAAP.
  • Experience with CommoditesXL, PowerOptix, Aveva PI, and various financial software.
  • Knowledge of FERC revenue filing processes.
  • Experience in advanced data visualization and database management.
  • Background in power settlements and invoicing with ISOs.
  • Experience with complex power purchase agreements and financial contracts.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships within a team environment.
Working Conditions
