Position Overview

The Mechanical Estimator will play a pivotal role within our Mechanical and Food Process division. This position is essential for ensuring the successful execution of projects by providing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings to thoroughly understand the project scope, even when information is limited.
  • Analyze and interpret all project bid documents to ensure comprehensive understanding.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations for outsourced work.
  • Utilize on-screen computer estimating tools to perform detailed estimate takeoffs within specified deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow estimators and various departments within the company.
  • Finalize estimates and engage in team reviews with management on bid day.
  • Assess subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness and compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct value engineering analyses to align with the customer's best interests.
  • Draft a detailed scope of work narrative.
  • Support field operations post-bid award with relevant estimate information.
  • Adhere to proposal due dates and schedules.
  • Anticipate estimating requirements based on limited initial information.
  • Maintain a focus on customer satisfaction while managing intricate details.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or Architecture is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction project management or estimating is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate with professionals from various disciplines.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients on remote sites (travel may be required).
  • Proficient in three-dimensional conceptualization.
