Position Summary

The Mechanical Estimator will play a crucial role within our Mechanical and Food Process division. This position is essential for driving the success of EMCOR Government Services by delivering accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing projects in a dynamic market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and team scope reviews to fully understand the project requirements, even when information is limited.
  • Thoroughly review all project bid documents to ensure comprehensive understanding.
  • Identify and communicate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain quotations for outsourced work.
  • Conduct detailed estimate takeoffs using advanced computer estimating software, adhering to project deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow estimators and various departments within the company.
  • Compile and finalize estimates within specified deadlines and engage in team reviews on bid day.
  • Assess subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness, compliance with specifications, and overall scope of work.
  • Prepare value engineering analyses to align with the best interests of our clients.
  • Develop comprehensive scope of work narratives.
  • Support field operations with the estimate post-bid award.
  • Ensure adherence to proposal due dates.
  • Anticipate the requirements for producing estimates with minimal information.
  • Maintain a focus on customer satisfaction while managing intricate details.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or Architecture is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction project management and/or estimating is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with professionals from various disciplines.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients on remote sites (travel may be required).
  • Proficient in three-dimensional conceptualization.
