Job Overview

Position: Machining Estimator / Service Writer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Eligibility: Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.

Company: KLM Careers is seeking a qualified Machining Estimator / Service Writer to fulfill a Direct Hire opportunity.

Working Hours: 7 AM - 3:30 PM, with potential for overtime and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate incoming machinery and components to ascertain the necessary repairs and replacements.
  • Source and price replacement components effectively.
  • Prepare comprehensive quotes and estimates for clients, along with the relevant Job Ticket for assigned shop tasks.
  • Create a Troubleshooting Analysis Report accompanied by a Repair Quote.
  • Notify the Operations Manager, sales representatives, and clients regarding any material defects, rework, inspection failures, job delays, or issues.
  • Review all inspection documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Regularly update the Job Status Report within the ERP System.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding deliverables and the status of collaborative tasks.
  • Exhibit a professional work ethic, demonstrating courtesy and respect throughout daily operations.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the Machining Repair and Service Industry.
  • Experience in Estimating and Service Writing.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and utilize precision measuring tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Extensive experience in diagnostic, troubleshooting, and failure analysis processes.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Experience in the Machining Repair and Service Industry.
  2. Experience with Estimating and Service Writing.
  3. Ability to read complex technical drawings.
  4. Possession of a High School Diploma.
  5. Certification or associate degree in a Mechanical Related Field is preferred.
  6. ISO 9001 experience is a plus.
  7. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
