Position Overview

The Mechanical Estimator will play a crucial role within our Mechanical and Food Process division. This position is essential for ensuring the successful execution of projects by providing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings to fully understand the scope of work required, even when information is limited.
  • Thoroughly review all project bid documents to ensure a comprehensive understanding.
  • Identify and communicate with subcontractors and vendors to gather quotations for outsourced work.
  • Utilize on-screen computer estimating tools to complete detailed estimate takeoffs within specified deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with other estimators and various departments within the company.
  • Finalize estimates in a timely manner and engage in team reviews with management on bid day.
  • Assess subcontractor and vendor bids for completeness, compliance with specifications, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Conduct value engineering analyses to align with the best interests of the customer.
  • Draft detailed scope of work narratives.
  • Support field operations with estimates post-bid award.
  • Adhere to proposal due dates and schedules.
  • Anticipate the requirements for producing estimates with minimal information.
  • Maintain a focus on customer satisfaction while managing intricate details.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or Architecture is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction project management and/or estimating is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with professionals from various disciplines.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients on remote sites (travel may be required).
  • Proficient in three-dimensional conceptualization.
