Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare young individuals for success in the global economy. Our dedicated corporate and community volunteers provide relevant, hands-on experiences that teach students from kindergarten through high school the fundamentals of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. JA programs empower students to connect their academic learning with real-world applications, fostering their economic success.

Position Overview:

Junior Achievement of Southwest New England is seeking a Communications and Marketing Strategist who is deeply committed to our mission of empowering youth. This role requires an individual who can effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance JA's impact within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Development: (65%)

  • Act as the primary storyteller for JA by creating diverse content types, including written materials and visual assets for proposals, web content, social media, newsletters, and more.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of program needs and to identify compelling stories for JA's digital platforms.
  • Oversee brand management by designing and maintaining templates and ensuring adherence to brand guidelines across all communications.
  • Maintain relationships with media and communication partners to enhance JA's visibility and tailor messaging for different audiences.

Strategic Planning: (25%)

  • Work closely with JA leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that informs stakeholders and the public about JA's programs and services, while encouraging philanthropic support.
  • Establish and manage key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of JA's communication efforts.

Digital Engagement: (10%)

  • Serve as the main point of contact for managing digital communication platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in philanthropic communications or journalism, with a focus on enhancing an organization's visibility and impact.
  • Proficient in writing, editing, and formatting materials for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and experience with design tools such as Adobe Suite or Canva.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire collaboration across teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with various marketing tools and techniques to enhance organizational visibility.
  • Experience in problem-solving and initiative-taking, with a focus on solutions-oriented messaging.
  • Technical skills in non-profit databases and exceptional writing and editing capabilities.
