About This Role:

The Administrative Support Center (ASC) is looking for a meticulous and skilled Financial Operations Coordinator who thrives in a dynamic environment and excels in customer service. This role will serve as a liaison between the designated ASC-supported departments, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, and external stakeholders, including vendors. Responsibilities include overseeing payment processes, managing deposits, invoicing, generating monthly financial reports, handling sales tax, managing grant post-award accounting, and addressing discrepancies.

To excel in this position, candidates should have a solid grasp of financial principles and reporting standards. A commitment to ethical practices, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

The Financial Operations Coordinator will work in a collaborative, flexible, team-oriented environment, with the option for hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure prompt processing of invoices and reimbursements.
  • Generate invoices and confirm collection and recording of funds.
  • Make journal or ledger entries in the shadow accounting system. Prepare financial reports on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis as required to support departments.
  • Conduct reconciliations, including identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Act as a liaison between ASC-supported departments and central business units, addressing inquiries regarding university policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed about university, state, and federal financial regulations and policies.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of relevant experience. Educational equivalency may be considered as determined by the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Four years of experience in professional accounting or auditing
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and mathematical skills
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly accounting software, along with strong typing skills
  • High level of accountability, accuracy, and efficiency, especially in multitasking scenarios
