Job Overview

The Opportunity:

New Fortress Energy is on the lookout for a Lead Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our expanding accounting and financial reporting division. This pivotal role involves evaluating intricate transactions and effectively communicating the accounting and financial reporting ramifications of these transactions, such as leases, contracts, derivatives, and business combinations. The selected candidate will also contribute significantly to the rollout of new accounting standards, the modeling of fair value assessments, and the formulation of accounting policies.

Key Responsibilities

Your Contributions:
  • Conduct thorough research and document the implications of new or complex transactions under US GAAP and SEC reporting, collaborating closely with the accounting team to ensure precise financial reporting.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to facilitate the operational and technical implementation of new agreements or transactions.
  • Analyze lease agreements and document the outcomes of assessments regarding operating versus finance leases.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, addressing technical accounting determinations and policy updates.
  • Support the implementation of new accounting standards and company policies, assessing their impact and developing new workpapers and processes.
  • Draft and revise accounting policies, and assist in creating and presenting internal training materials for various teams within the organization.
  • Oversee the accounting for business combinations, coordinating with valuation experts and ensuring comprehensive documentation of complex accounting issues.
Qualifications

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting; CPA certification is mandatory.
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, ideally with a Big 4 accounting firm or relevant industry technical accounting experience.
  • Experience in accounting advisory and/or public company US GAAP preferred.
  • Proven ability to swiftly evaluate the accounting and reporting implications of complex transactions.
  • Strong research skills in technical accounting matters, with the ability to prepare clear memorandums and presentations.
  • In-depth knowledge of lease accounting, revenue recognition, consolidation, and accounting for business combinations.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently while seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Proficient in SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Workiva software is advantageous.
What We Offer:

Compensation:
The expected annual base salary range for this position is [$150,000 - $200,000]. Salary offers are influenced by various factors, including job responsibilities, geographic location, market data, applicant skills, and relevant experience.

Incentives:
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
