As part of the Corporate Controllers Department, the External Financial Reporting Team is responsible for the controllership activities in support of the U.S. business units, Newark-based international entities and select international locations. The External Financial Reporting Team supports GAAP and Statutory reporting across multiple legal entities, including subsidiary and separate account financial statements, disclosures, analysis, various regulatory filing submissions, and internal and external audit support. The team partners with Business Unit Finance and Operations areas, Actuarial, as well as other corporate areas. The Separate Accounts reporting team is in search of an experience Manager of Financial Reporting:

What you can expect:
  • Manage the financial reporting close process and preparation of GAAP audited separate account and various subsidiary financial statements and disclosures, legal entity financial statement analysis, while ensuring the control, timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements
  • Manage the preparation of reporting data in support of disclosures for inclusion in PFI 10-K/Q and subsidiary Statutory & GAAP financial statements
  • Manage the coordination and preparation of SEC filings, such as the Form 24F-2 and Form N-CEN on behalf of the separate accounts
  • Partner with Business Unit Finance, Operations, Corporate areas and other internal business partners on accounting and reporting matters, including new transactions and the implementation of new reporting requirements
  • Coordinate with staff and our internal business partners to support the annual audits by Internal Auditors, as well as Independent External Auditors for multiple standalone entities
  • Identify, develop and implement improvements to controls and financial reporting processes, driving an environment of continuous process improvement
  • Ensure adequacy of internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, Model Audit Rule requirements and Enterprise Accounting Policies and Procedures
  • Support other internal and external deliverables, adhoc requests, and special projects as needed
  • Support special projects such as automation, product and fund changes, and new regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Oversight and development of junior staff members and offshore resources
What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of financial reporting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience and progressive responsibility in managing and developing a team of finance associates
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing demands under challenging time frames
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong collaborative and partnering skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive; strategic thinker
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, written and oral communication, and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, while also maintaining a big picture perspective
  • Experience with Prudential Financial systems (Oracle, Essbase, Supplementals & Financial Statements applications)
  • Ability to work overtime during peak periods
It would be a plus if you had:
  • Separate Account and SEC reporting experience
  • Investment and/or Insurance accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Experience with audits
  • Experience with the Workiva system
  • CPA designation or MBA degree

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $115,800.00 to $172, Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
