Job Summary

GE Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team in Niskayuna, NY. As a Research Engineer, you will be responsible for developing technologies to improve aerodynamic, thermal, and combustion performance for various GE products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Development: Conduct research and technology development for the next generation of aircraft engine and aerospace technologies.
  • Turbomachinery Design: Work in a team to carry out research and development of next-generation technologies for turbomachinery and non-traditional turbomachinery products.
  • Geometry Manipulation and Meshing: Develop and support research and development in geometry manipulation, CFD meshing, and pre-processing for a wide range of simulations for aerospace applications.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, interface with experimentalists, and communicate with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence.
Requirements
  • Education: Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines, or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience: Experience and knowledge of fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and CFD, as well as experience in geometry modification, meshing, and using engineering simulation/analysis tools.
  • Skills: Ability to investigate, model, and provide critical insight into complex physical flow phenomena, strong analytical skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industrial or Research Experience: At least 3 years of industrial or research experience in turbomachinery design and analysis.
  • Programming Skills: Outstanding programming skills, including expertise with FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
  • Passion for Science and Technology: Passion for science and technology, clear evidence of innovation and creativity, and strong interpersonal skills.
