Key Responsibilities

As a Research Engineer, you will:

  • Engage in collaborative research and development of cutting-edge technologies for turbomachinery and innovative aerospace products.
  • Drive initiatives in geometry manipulation, CFD meshing, and pre-processing to facilitate a broad spectrum of aerospace simulations.
  • Independently manage tasks leveraging your technical expertise in combustion physics.
  • Assist in CAD generation and manipulation, along with meshing and model pre-processing for CFD applications.
  • Contribute to multi-generational technology programs aimed at future design enhancements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of proprietary tools and workflows to ensure adherence to established design standards.
  • Develop sophisticated pre-processing techniques for intricate geometries using both commercial and proprietary tools.
  • Participate in the evolution of high-fidelity computational analysis techniques.
  • Utilize both proprietary and commercial CFD solvers in your work.
  • Engage in validation and verification processes to advance computational methodologies and demonstrate new technologies.
  • Collaborate with experimental teams to ensure the acquisition of high-quality data.
  • Work alongside the GE Aviation engineering community to communicate and validate advanced modeling techniques.
Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and CFD, along with experience in geometry modification and engineering simulation tools.
  • The capability to analyze and model complex physical flow phenomena.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to interface confidently with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative office environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract provisions.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of industrial or research experience in turbomachinery design and analysis.
  • Exceptional programming skills, particularly in FORTRAN, C++, and Python.
  • A demonstrated passion for science and technology, showcasing innovation and creativity.

  • The ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation for this position ranges from $80,000 to $150,000 annually, influenced by various factors including experience and skills. This role also offers eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
