Position Overview:

Become a vital member of our Interventional Radiology team at Northern Arizona Healthcare.

The Interventional Radiology Technologist collaborates effectively with radiologists and a multidisciplinary team, including nurses and fellow technologists, to facilitate interventional and diagnostic procedures within the Medical Imaging department. This role is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care in a secure environment. In addition to primary responsibilities in Interventional Radiology, the technologist may also assist in other imaging modalities such as CT, X-Ray, or surgical procedures as required. Administrative tasks include updating procedural manuals, maintaining protocols, conducting quality control tests, and aiding in staff scheduling.

Work Environment:
This position requires on-site presence.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Clinical Expertise:
* Operate independently as a scrub or circulator, ensuring sterile techniques are upheld while preparing rooms and trays for procedures.

* Conduct essential pre-procedure preparations, review patient consent forms, and address any clinical concerns prior to the procedure.

* Validate and reconcile patient procedure and supply charges daily.

* Manage image acquisition, transfer, and archiving, while troubleshooting clinical and equipment issues.

* Perform various interventional examinations on both inpatients and outpatients.

* Clearly explain procedures to patients, addressing questions and concerns.

* Prepare medications required for procedures.

* Demonstrate the ability to multitask and manage complex cases effectively.

Quality Assurance and Safety:
* Adhere to radiation safety protocols in compliance with regulations.

* Maintain accurate documentation for all patient procedures.

* Identify adverse events and utilize critical thinking to inform medical staff.

* Support management in quality improvement initiatives.

* Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Professional Growth:
* Participate in continuing education programs and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge, aiming for relevant certifications (VI, ACLS).

* Engage with professional organizations related to the specialty.

* Assist in managing supply inventory to maintain appropriate levels.

* Ensure licensure is current and maintained.

Compliance and Safety:
* Report any safety-related incidents promptly using the designated reporting tools; attend all safety training sessions; perform duties safely and monitor the work environment for potential safety issues.

* Stay informed and comply with state and federal regulations and company policies affecting the role.

* Ensure all required certifications and licenses are valid and up-to-date.

* Complete all mandatory training modules and job-specific training within the designated time frame.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of a JRCERT accredited program in Radiologic Technology or military equivalent - Required.

High School Diploma - Required.

Certifications and Licenses:
BLS - Required.

Current Arizona Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) - Required.

Registered Radiology Technologist - ARRT - Required.

CVRT - Preferred.

ARRT (VI) - Preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of 1 year as a general radiology technologist with experience in Interventional Radiology within a hospital setting - Required (3 years preferred).

Minimum of 2 years in catheterizations/vascular procedures - Required.

Preferred experience includes three years in interventional/cardiac catheterization.

General radiology experience with a focus on interventional procedures is preferred.

Experience in a Trauma 1 or Trauma 2 hospital environment is preferred.

* Experience is not mandatory for candidates entering the department training program.
