POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Patient Access Representative is pivotal in establishing the initial connection with patients and their families, whether in person or over the phone. This position is integral to enhancing the patient experience by ensuring smooth and efficient interactions.

DEPARTMENT: Patient Financial Services

REPORTS TO: Manager of Patient Financial Services

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Experienced

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Patient Intake and Appointment Management (85%):

  • Welcome patients with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Register patients accurately in the practice management system, ensuring all necessary demographic, insurance, and billing information is complete and correct.
  • Maintain high standards of communication with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Verify patient identifiers to comply with HIPAA regulations.
  • Schedule appointments in line with the health center's established protocols.
  • Handle daily cash collections in accordance with financial policies, ensuring the security of funds and accurate documentation of payments.
  • Stay informed about various insurance plans to facilitate effective billing and claims processing.
  • Conduct insurance verifications as directed by the management team.

2. Accountability and Responsibilities (10%):

  • Reconcile cash collections and report to the Accounting Manager daily.
  • Provide coverage for front desk operations as needed.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow through reception and registration areas.

3. Additional Duties (5%):

  • Assist with other clerical tasks as assigned by management.
  • Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with computer systems, particularly the EPIC System, is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, with proficiency in English required.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole is preferred.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and adaptability are essential attributes.
