POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Patient Access Representative is crucial as the initial point of contact for patients and their families, whether in person or over the phone. This position is essential in enhancing the patient experience by ensuring seamless interactions that positively influence patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Patient Intake and Appointment Management (85%)

  • Welcome patients with a warm and professional demeanor.
  • Accurately register patients in the practice management system, confirming all demographic, insurance, and billing details are correct. Key data includes verification of primary care provider and insurance ID.
  • Maintain high standards for all communications with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA by verifying patient identifiers.
  • Schedule appointments according to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Handle daily cash collections following financial policies, ensuring secure management of payments and providing receipts.
  • Stay informed about various insurance plans to facilitate proper claim processing and manage assigned billing tasks.
  • Conduct insurance verifications as directed by management.

2. Accountability and Administrative Duties (10%)

  • Reconcile cash collections and report to the Accounting Manager daily.
  • Provide support at the front desk as needed.
  • Ensure timely patient flow through reception and registration.

3. Additional Responsibilities (5%)

  • Perform other clerical tasks as assigned by management.
  • Complete additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a healthcare environment. Familiarity with health insurance is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer systems, particularly the EPIC System.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, with effective English communication required.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Haitian Creole is preferred.
  • Demonstrated reliability in attendance and punctuality is necessary.
