Salary Range: $77,748 – $116,622 (based on experience and qualifications)

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant III plays a crucial role in the financial management of EarthScope Consortium Inc. This position is responsible for executing a variety of accounting functions, including advanced and specialized tasks that involve intricate and sensitive financial data. The Senior Accountant III will analyze financial information to generate reports, statements, and strategic recommendations, while also providing guidance to other accounting personnel and collaborating with technical experts to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the compilation of financial data and preparation of journal entries through detailed analysis, including internal allocations.
  • Engage in evaluations of financial reporting solutions from various sources, applying sound technical insights into accounting principles.
  • Support the creation of financial dashboards, report graphics, and presentation materials with a high level of accuracy.
  • Conduct financial reporting in accordance with sponsor requirements, monitoring awards for compliance and investigating discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers regarding project status and funding opportunities on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in developing special reports for reconciliations and internal control processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with programs and managers to identify information needs and design new reporting tools.
  • Assist with payroll processing during absences of colleagues, ensuring accurate employee compensation.
  • Reconcile payroll entries within the accounting software.
  • Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and organizational procedures.
  • Review and rectify errors in financial documents and reports.
  • Research and recommend modifications to accounting systems and controls.
  • Maintain records retention of accounting documents and financial reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required for the effective operation of the organization.

Leadership and Interaction:

  • This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.
  • Foster effective communication with EarthScope staff and partner organizations.
  • Promote a professional culture through strong interpersonal skills and clear communication.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a senior accountant role or higher.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in grant management or federal award accounting.
  • Hands-on experience with Deltek CostPoint 8 (Candidates will be assessed).
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Deltek CostPoint User Certification.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
