POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Teen REACH Coordinator, the Recreation Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the afterschool program at their designated school. This initiative aims to enrich students' lives by enhancing educational outcomes, providing life skills education, encouraging parental involvement, facilitating recreation, and offering positive adult mentorship and service-learning opportunities.

WORKING HOURS

Summer Session: 12:45 PM - 5:00 PM (Majority of time spent outdoors)

School Session: 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Teen REACH Site Supervisor and Recreation Assistant in executing daily activities.
  • Foster an inclusive environment by engaging with students.
  • Support on-site tutors in their efforts.
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for participants, parents/guardians, tutors, mentors, and volunteers.
  • Ensure adherence to all school and program regulations, intervening as necessary.
  • Participate actively in all staff meetings and training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Preferred experience in afterschool programs and youth community prevention.
  2. Training and/or experience in trauma-informed practices is a plus.
  3. Ability to collaborate and interact positively with all staff and students.
  4. Proficient in building rapport with the student demographic.
  5. Strong organizational skills, time management, and adaptability are essential.
  6. Must possess a positive attitude and energetic demeanor.
